Dan hosted me on Roughly Speaking to give my Top 5 list of the germs to watch in the coming year, many of which (I hope) will not cause much excitement:

5. Influenza
4. Zika
3. Ebola
2. Multi-drug resistant bacteria
1. ? the next big plague we don’t know about yet?
Bonus: HIV

Listen here for opining on the relevance (or not) of the above.

Dan hosted me on Roughly Speaking to decode the results of his lab testing that he recently had done by his primary care physician. That’s a bit of a brave thing on his part, although it helps that he’s in the peak of health, blood-work wise.

Listen here for my jealously over his cholesterol levels, and other goodness.

Dan graciously had me on Roughly Speaking to discuss the recent article from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health article looking at the “100 Objects That Shaped Public Health“.

My favorite? Spoiler alert: hot dogs.

It was a fun conversation! Listen here.

Dan Rodricks has migrated his audio work from NPR to the new podcast audio show from the Baltimore Sun, Roughly Speaking. Needless to say, it’s an outstanding program, especially for anyone interested in keeping their finger on the pulse of all things Baltimore. This past Friday, Dan interviewed me for a primer on the latest newsworthy emerging pathogen, Zika virus. I also discussed happenings with HIV in Baltimore on a previous show, and am looking forward to being on with him every month or so. More to come!

Last week I was on Midday with Dan Rodricks on 88.1 WYPR Baltimore for our usual Midday on Health segment. This time around, we revisited Ebola to discuss the latest issues both in the US and abroad, and were fortunate enough to have Elizabeth Serlemitsos on from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Communication Programs who is in Liberia working to control the spread of the virus through public education efforts. It was a great conversation.

A couple of weeks back I was on Midday with Dan Rodricks on 88.1 WYPR Baltimore for our usual Midday on Health segment. This time around, we took some time to chat about the ebola situation in Africa, and were fortunate enough to have Suzanne Van Hulle on from Catholic Relief Services to give an “on the ground” perspective on things. It was a great conversation.

For your listening and/or podcasting pleasure, the show can be found here.

I’m on 88.1 WYPR in Baltimore today at 1pm EST…

…as a guest on Midday with Dan Rodricks, talking about Human Papilloma Virus infections and the use of vaccines to prevent them. Additionally, I’m excited and honored to announce that I’ll be a regular health and medical guest for the show on a monthly basis. Dan’s an outstanding host, and I’m greatly looking forward to our conversations. We’ll also be taking listener calls, which always makes things interesting.
